Hanuman, Karma Yoga & the Power of Community
In the story of Hanuman, we meet devotion in motion. Hanuman is the embodiment of strength, humility, and unwavering faith. When he is called to serve, he doesn’t pause to measure the distance or calculate the outcome. He leaps—across oceans, into the unknown—because his devotion is rooted not in certainty, but in trust.
Why We’re Gathering: The Heart Behind the So Hum Summer Solstice Celebration
There’s a moment before something becomes real.
Not a plan. Not a spreadsheet. Not a ticket link.
Just a feeling.
For me, it started as a daydream—one of those soft, sun-drenched visions that sneaks in when you’re not trying too hard. I could see us gathered inside the pavilion on a warm June day. Mats laid out in every direction. A low hum of conversation, laughter weaving through the air. People moving together, breathing together. Not performing, not perfecting—just being.
Riding the Bear: Introducing the So Hum Summer Challenge
Last night, I dreamt I was driving a black bear.
Not riding it—driving it.
April at So Hum: Planting Seeds, Trusting Growth
There’s something about April.
The ground softens. The light stretches a little longer. And even when it still feels a little cold, a little uncertain—we know something is happening beneath the surface.
What Makes So Hum Different From Big-Box Yoga?
This morning, it snowed.
Late March in Michigan doing what it does—reminding us that nature doesn’t rush, and neither should we.
And inside the studio today?
We’ll gather for an Intuitive Painting class at 1pm, and later, a Seed Starting Workshop—hands in the soil, imagination wide open.
This is yoga, too.

What Is a Community-Supported Yoga Studio? (And Why It Matters)
What if your yoga membership didn’t just support your practice — but helped sustain an entire wellness ecosystem?
There’s a lot of talk this time of year about luck.
Four-leaf clovers.
Right place, right time.
Finding something you didn’t even know you were looking for.
But what if it’s not luck at all?
The Blood Moon, The Worm Moon & The Roots We Cannot Yet See
Today’s Full Moon isn’t just any Full Moon.
It’s a Lunar Eclipse.
It’s the Blood Moon.
It’s the Worm Moon.
And if you’ve been paying attention to what’s happening here at So Hum… you’ll feel the symbolism in your bones.

We’re Not Your Typical Yoga Studio — And That’s the Point
If you’re looking for a yoga factory — rows of mats, scripted playlists, instructors rotating in and out — we may not be your place.
Something Is Growing at So Hum
There’s a particular kind of energy that happens right before something expands.
Not frantic.
Not loud.
But steady.
Rooted.
Intentional.
Practicing the Yamas & Niyamas in Uncertain Times
There are moments when the world feels especially loud. When fear ripples through families and communities. When images and stories—of children detained, families separated, masked agents moving through neighborhoods—land not just in our minds, but in our bodies.
So Hum Yoga Studio, An Origin Story of Uncovering What Was Always Here
Peeling Back the Layers
Lately, I’ve been dreaming about floors and ceilings.
In these dreams, I’m carefully removing old drop ceilings and worn layers of flooring—laminate, misplaced marble tiles, coverings that were once useful but no longer true. Beneath them, I discover something beautiful and strong: exposed beams overhead and solid wood floors below. Nothing new had to be built. The beauty was already there. It simply needed to be revealed.
This, I’ve realized, is the story of So Hum.

A Threshold Moment
Christmas Eve feels like a threshold.
A pause between what has been and what is quietly arranging itself beneath the surface.
Here at So Hum, we are standing in that in-between space—gearing up for a season of thoughtful transformation. Not the kind driven by urgency or reinvention for its own sake, but the kind that comes from listening closely and responding honestly.
