Lately, I’ve been dreaming about floors and ceilings.

In these dreams, I’m carefully removing old drop ceilings and worn layers of flooring—laminate, misplaced marble tiles, coverings that were once useful but no longer true. Beneath them, I discover something beautiful and strong: exposed beams overhead and solid wood floors below. Nothing new had to be built. The beauty was already there. It simply needed to be revealed.
