4th Annual Mala Crafting Workshop
A slow afternoon of beads, breath, and intention
There's something sacred about creating with your hands. Bead by bead, breath by breath, a mala becomes more than a strand of stones — it becomes a companion for your practice, a keeper of your intentions, a small circle of calm you can return to again and again.
Join us for our fourth annual Mala Crafting Workshop, a beloved So Hum tradition. Together, we'll gather in community to craft Malas using Job's Tears grown and harvested at Fassler Garden & Yoga — beads that carry the energy of the very soil and sunshine of our own garden — woven together with an array of stones and natural materials, each chosen by you, for you.
As we create, we'll sink into the deeper story of the mala: the meaning behind the sacred number 108, and how to use your finished mala in japa meditation — the quiet, rhythmic practice of mantra repetition that has anchored seekers for thousands of years. By the time you tie your final knot, you won't just have made a mala; you'll know how to practice with it.
Drawn to something you can wear every day? You're warmly welcome to craft a mala bracelet instead.
No experience needed. No perfection required. Just come as you are — curious hands and an open heart. We'll take care of the rest, including all materials and cozy refreshments to nourish you along the way.
