Meet Shira!
I’m Shira. I’m a mom, a private-practice lactation consultant, and a lifelong lover of nature and movement. I feel most at home on a yoga mat, cooking nourishing food in the kitchen, and outside exploring.
My yoga passion began over 20 years ago, and deepened through a 500-hour Iyengar-style training in San Francisco. Before returning to Michigan, I spent several years living in small-town Taos, New Mexico, where I opened and operated a yoga studio (because there was no dedicated yoga space there at the time, and every town needs one!). Our motto was “Yoga Will Change Your Life,” and I believe that to my core. Yoga is a powerful practice, capable of touching all aspects of our being and community.
Shira Teaches Awaken and Align at 6am on Thursdays
Yoga is for all bodies.
Drawing from multiple traditions, this class is rooted heavily in an Iyengar-inspired Hatha approach, emphasizing physical alignment, use of props and longer holds, incorporating movement with stillness, action with rest, inversions and modifications. We practice to cultivate safety, awareness, balance, stability, and peace.
